こういう慣用句は覚えておくと便利だよ。

例）I still have the famous words by my teacher at my tongue’s end.（＝私の舌先には、まだ先生のあと有名な言葉がある＝先生のあと有名な言葉、今でもちゃんと覚えているよ。）
Throat（のど）：
be at each other’s throats = ケンカしている
例）They were always at each other’s throats before graduation, but they are now best friends.（＝彼らは卒業まで、いつもケンカしていたのに、今では親友になっている。）
Finger（指）：
cross one’s fingers = （人差し指の上に中指を交差して）幸運を祈る
例）I cross my fingers for the success of this project!（＝このプロジェクトの成功を祈ってる！）
例）Fingers crossed!（＝祈ってる！）☞ 映画でよく使われる表現。字幕は、「きっとうまくいくよ」「頑張って！」と訳されていることが多いが、英語は全然違うことに注目。
イディオムを大量に覚えて英語を習得したことがある人を知ってるけど、それくらいイディオムは奥が深い。そして、映画での粋な会話の表現にはたくさんのイディオムが出てくる。知っていると会話で得することが多い。
